Our profile

dep 2 scaled

Our research department aims to develop theoretical and applied research that explores filmmakings' most contemporary practices and aesthetic challenges.

Carried out in a transdisciplinary approach, we challenge the economics of filmmaking, production, and distribution, study the impact of new forms of writing, technical changes, and the evolution of professions.

Our research is the subject of regular publications. Our activities combine theory and practice and focus on  audiovisual creation, in its present and future.

ESRA initiates multiple formats to support the development of new expertise with international partners from all sectors. Scholars and students work together to solve the global issues affecting the world today.

Our focus

Emerging issues related to technological innovation, including:
• new creation and production tools
• changes in contemporary audiovisual narratives
• the growing impact of artificial intelligence in the image and sound professions
