A delegation of ESRA students has arrived in Beijing to take part in an exceptional documentary filmmaking program organized in partnership with the Communication University of China (CUC), China’s leading university for media and communication. This pioneering initiative, the first program of its kind bringing together a Chinese University and a foreign film school for a joint documentary production exchange, marks a significant milestone in educational and cultural cooperation between France and China.
The program will officially begin tomorrow with a launch ceremony hosted at CUC, bringing together representatives of both institutions to celebrate the launch of this unique collaboration.
The ESRA delegation is accompanied by Marie Demaublanc, producer and founder of Alma Prod, Nicolas Deschamps, President of the Association France Coproduction, which initiated the project, and Ying Liu, ESRA Hebei Coordinator, who plays a key role in supporting the school’s growing academic cooperation with China.
Over the next two weeks, French and Chinese students will work side by side in mixed creative teams to conceive, shoot and edit fifteen original documentary films. Through this collaborative experience, participants will share artistic perspectives, discover China’s rich cultural and regional diversity, and strengthen mutual understanding through the universal language of cinema.
Beyond filmmaking, the initiative reflects the shared commitment of ESRA and CUC to developing internationally minded creative talents and fostering meaningful academic and cultural exchange. It stands as a testament to the enduring friendship between France and China and to the important role that higher education and cinema play in building lasting bridges between cultures.
